Meeting Log 2

Group Meeting Thurs. 9/23. Meeting Duration: 30 minutes. Brian and Heather in attendance.

Topics discussed:
Which parts can be made and which have to be bought off the shelf.

Future goals: 
October 14: Complete design and prepare initial parts order.

Research completed:
  • Due to cost constraints, we will be using single-use motors.
  • Found free software from NASA that will help with the design and simulation of the rocket. Available here.
  • Found another local launch site, in addition to NEFAR, that might be able to support our launch operations. (R-O-C-K)
To Do for next meeting:
  • Contact R-O-C-K to see if they can support our launch operations
  • Learn to use the NASA software and begin designing our vehicle in it
  • Continue researching the Not Sure (make/buy) components to assess their feasibility.

  • Began researching off-the-shelf component options
  • Created blog to serve as lab notebook
  • Discussed which pieces we could manufacture ourselves

  • Which is more economical, single use motors or reloadable kits.
  • Where components can be purchased, local or online
  • If it is feasible to make our own parachute
